YOUR SUCH A CHARACTER

Hello, hello, hello!! I had a wonderful week with my family.... My parents took my brother, My Son and myself on a lovely drie out to margaret River this week, just for the day to have some lunch and a look around. It's a long drive for 1 day about 3 and a half hours each way, but it was well worth it. Now it's back to reality and I am here to share with you my layout that I made for case-file 105. When I first received the image, colors, evidence, testimony and sketch from Debbie, all I could think was 'As much as I love these colors.... This is going to be very hard for me to pull off.' As you can see below, the sketch, by the very talented Emma Stafrace, is really not me, and even though I have a little boy who loves rockets and stuff at the moment, creating a themed layout is also not me. Picking out the things I would/could use, and altering the sketch to suit my style without straying to far off course, was very difficult for me. I spent forever looking at it , getting my stuff out, packing my stuff up and so on, before I actually got any work done. In the end it came together quite by accident. I have only used one photo in my layout instead of 5, however it still follows the basic composition of the sketch.
Don't forget to pop over to CSI where you can see all the great design team work for this challenge, find other challenges, visit the reader gallery, chat, and so much more. It's a really friendly and fun environment to be a part of!!

This month's challenge and sketch:

For the evidence I have used:
Stars: On my badge, banner, and my background
Circles: I have used a number of circle shaped embellishments, as well as the twine frame around my photo.
Something odd or unusual: I have used 'Star' table confetti stars on my background, and a straw!!
For my testimony I have chosen to write 3 quirky things about my subject, and I have also included the Inspiration word 'strange' in my journaling.

'Your Such a Character'

I had lots of fun making this layout, particularly with the background. I used my new Prima mask, some stamps for texture, and watercolors.
Here is what the background looked like before I covered most of it....

I tried to mix my watercolors to match that Jade green in the color palette.... This was as close as I could get.... I really love these colors though!!

Some close-ups:

I absolutely adore this picture of my Son, it was the morning of his second birthday and I'm trying to snap pics and he's trying to see through the camera. It was completely by luck that I manged to get such a clean photo that had all of his face still in it!!!

Some yummy Prima flowers and wood icons... I'm soooo loving these at the moment. I made the banner using scraps of paper from my layers, and a few other scraps too.
Other brands I have used inclue Studio Calico, Tim Holtz, Basic Grey, Echo Park, and I think I even used some paper from October Afternoon on here!!

Just though I would quickly share this pic as it shows some of that fun background texture, and of course the super cool table confetti stars.... they were so much fun sticking down.... NOT!!

My journaling.... The other day we were in the car and Jet was in the back singing some strange song.... One of the lines had something to do with Chicken Strips, which he was singing at a really high pitched note!! I was in stitches.... Thankfully I wasn't driving.

Last buit not least I decided I would just quickly show you the whole banner up close with the title and my little twine wrapped straw at the bottom. I have used the final piece of my broken necklace on this layout!! I'm sad it has gone..... it's made such a fun and I guess unusual embellishment. I looked around for another necklace the same, purely to pull apart and use on my layouts, but I could no longer get one..... Oh well!!

So I think that was the shortest blog post I have ever written... LOL. I will be back to my usual self sometime this week, but for now it is far too hot. It's about 38 outside now, and meant to get hotter.... Which is about 100 degrees Fahrenheit... Yesterday we got to 45 where I live (114 Fahrenheit). Thankfully the weather is not always like this, though I do love it!! I hope you have all had, or are still having a lovely weekend.... I have quite a few finished projects on my desk so make sure you pop back later in the week.

Thanks for stopping by!!!
