FIRST POST AND LAYOUTS TO SHARE!

Hey everyone! So I'm really excited to be sharing my first blog post today though I have no clue as to what I'm doing.... Just figuring it out as I go! I've been meaning to get my blog up and running for a while now but I just haven't had much of a chance.

First up I would like to share one of my more recent layouts that I completed a couple of weeks ago. Lots of different brands on here including: Fancy Pants Designs, Pink Paislee, Prima Marketing Inc, and American Crafts, just to name a few.

This Adorable Boy

And some close-ups:

.......Lots of inking and distressing here.

I'm very into arrows, chevrons and badges at the moment!

Prima canvas alphabet and journalling....

And of course lots of Prima flowers a page to me is rarely complete without them!!!

Next up I have another layout that I made with a photo taken on the same day as the one previously. I couldn't help it.... He just looks so cute with his little hat on!!

What are you Thinking about Bubba?

For the background I wanted to try something different, but simple, as I didn't have a lot of time. I started by scraping gesso randomly to reduce warping and then I painted it with ink. While still wet I scraped more gesso through the ink to lighten some sections and dipped the side of an old credit card in gesso, using it to add lines vertically and horizontally over the ink. It looks really great and adds awesome texture to the page. Lastly I sprayed some Perfect Pearls mists in Graphite.

Here are some close-ups:

The key is actually a Prima flocked rub-on, but instead of using it as a rub-on I've just cut it out and glued it on because I wanted to keep it yellow instead of cream.

You can really see the texture of the background and all the different layers.

I love Prima flowers!!!

Next I have the first layout I made after having just over a year away from scrapbooking. Its also the first time I created any layout that wasn't mostly brown earthy tones, and I loved it. Since then I've not been able to get enough of bright happy colors.
I absolutely adore this photo of Jet. He had just began crawling about a month or 2 before and the morning this pic was taken he was zooming all over the floor after an empty tin of formula that he was rolling all over the place. It was so cute!! I chose the colors for this layout to suit his bright and fun personality.

My Little Mommy's Boy

Lots and lots of ink sprays, mists, tearing, distressing and layering on here. I had so much fun with this page and it is such a boy page. Another huge mix of different brands including American Crafts, Fancy Pants Designs, and Kaisercraft. All flowers except the 2 small roses at bottom right, which are handmade, are Prima. The big green one at the bottom was originally white but I sprayed it with a few different colored mists to get it to match what I wanted.

Some close-ups:

Lots of dimension which I absolutely love, and heaps of texture too.

My two handmade roses at the front along with Prima flowers and different textures. You can also see some of the different layers for the background here too. The original black and white stripe, a thin layer of gesso, and on top randomly painted and splattered inks.

Lots of different materials, ribbons and fibers on here. Some of the earth tones helping to keep it from being too overbearing. I've added inks and texture paste to the photo as well as distressed the edges helping tie it all together. I had lots of fun on this layout.
Hope you like!!!

A few weeks ago a friend challenged me to scraplift a layout from another artist. This is not something I've ever done before and I found it really challenging trying to make something similar but not the same, because the layout I chose to lift I loved every aspect of. In the end I stuck with the same basic sketch, similar colors and patterns, though I changed a few things to better suit my own style. The layout I chose to scraplift is called 'Playtime', by Stacey Young.
I've used products by Prima Marketing, My Mind's Eye, American Crafts, and a few others. I love all the different chevrons I've used on this layout. I rarely feel a page is complete without chevron on it somewhere.... totally addicted!!

Brother

As I said lots of chevrons, and of course Prima flowers and other goodies. I also have normal twine and 3 different colors of bakers twine on here.

Here are some close-ups:

The pegs I bought from a local craft store and I basically just painted them with light blue ink, then covered them both on one side. On the first one I used small piece of paper left over from what I had used in the background. The other one I covered with a thin layer of glue and then covered in white/clear crystal glitter flakes. They look great and are quick and easy to make!!

Prima goodies... wood ticket, flower and chipboard butterfly. The little mini frame I got from the local $2 shop. I painted the top layer with texture paste then randomly added some blue ink over the top. This photo also shows some of the different mists and inks that I've splattered randomly over the background.

As you can see there is quite a few layers of paper here along with some calico as always. The layered bike sticker is from Snap Studios, I wasn't sure about it at first but I think it works really well on this page. I also think the 2 different twines work really well together on the photo. Giving this page a real outdoorsy feel.
I hope you like it as much as I do.

I was rummaging through all my photos a few weeks ago when I found a picture of my cousin's little girl Kayla. It was a few years old, I'd say she would have only been 2 or 3 at the time it was taken, but it was a really cute pic, even if she wasn't smiling and had a touch of food on her chin. It was in Sepia tone so it worked really well with what I wanted to do. It has been so long since I have scrapbooked something girly and I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to use all my girly products that were just sitting there gathering dust.

I made the background for this layout by hand. The chevron stencil I used with texture paste was homemade, as were the majority of the inks all though not all. The rest of the spray inks were Tattered Angels.
Once again lots of Prima flowers. I also used a Prima script stamp on the background and a rub-on in the top left corner on top of the washi-tape. Most of the papers were American Crafts though not all, and the Birdcage at the top is by Tim Holtz.

Here are some close-ups:

Once again lots of layers and Prima flowers. The chipboard is from Dusty Attic, which I painted with Ranger Liquid Pearls.

Heaps of different texture!!

Here more of the background texture is  visible. Many different mediums were used to create the background for this layout. The title was done with Carolee's Creations Adorn It! alpha's. I used a colored Staedtler fine liner pen to outline the stickers, as they really blended with the background, making them hard to read.

Tim Holtz birdcage with Collections Elements butterfly.

That's it for today but hopefully I'll have some new stuff to share within the next few days. Hope you enjoy. Have a good week!!
