A NEW ART JOURNAL....... 13 ARTS

Hi everyone!! I hope you are all well and looking forward to Christmas, which is now just around the corner!!! Today I would like to share with you my most recent creation for 13 Arts..... A beautiful new Art Journal I created using one of my Moms old Jackie Collins novels, and lots of beautiful 13 Arts products!!

I must confess that this journal cover is a little different from what I would normally do, but after all the whole purpose of an Art Journal is to experiment is it not? And I love how it has turned out!!!

'Family Journal'

I began by cutting a hole in the front cover and threading my ribbon through, before covering with paper from the Fly Away collection. I then built up my background composition using lots of lace and other materials, embellishments and found objects. I glued the heavier objects down using Gel Medium, and when everything was secure I painted everything with Gesso to provide a grip for the color.

Some close-ups:

When my Gesso was dry I began to paint the background, starting with Ayeeda Paint in Matte Black. I used this to create shadows and put emphasis on the dimension.

After the black I continued to add color using paints, mists and inks, starting from the lightest, and building up to the darkest, and occasionally spraying with water to blend colors together.

When I was happy with the color I added a few sprays of Pastel Black Mist to pull the color and shadows together. I also added some flicks and drops of Black Ink. I finished off with a few sprays and flicks of Chalk White Mist, and randomly brushing Ayeeda Paint in Gold Glitter around the embellishments and lace.

I hope you found something to inspire you here!!!

This is my final post until January so before I go today I would like to wish you all 'A Very Wonderful Christmas and A Happy New Year'

A LITTLE PINK.... 13 ARTS

Hi!!! I hope you are all well!! I know it has been a little while since I created a girly layout for you, and since joining the 13 Arts design team all my layouts have been blue, so I decided to get out all my fave girly colors and products from 13 Arts and make something pretty for you!!

'XOXO'

I have used my fave 13 Arts papers from the  'Color Basics' collection.
I really love how this turned out.... I know its a little different from my normal creations but I had so much fun making it and experimenting with all my mediums, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Some close-ups:

I have used the 'Love mask from the 'Fly Away collection on my background with some modelling paste. I then painted it by hand dipping my brush straight into my bottles of mist.

I have painted 2 small pegs with Ayeeda Paint in Pearl Gold and Gold Glitter.

All my flowers have been brushed with Gesso, and Ayeeda Paint in Gold Glitter, then sprayed randomly with pearl pink mist, and thoroughly with pearl silver mist.

I have added some friut sprigs and cherry blossoms from the 13 Arts store amongst my other flowers, adding some great texture and detail.

My chipboard pieces have simply been painted white with gesso, to which I added a touch of color when spraying.

I have added some glass microspheres mixed with gel medium beneath my paper layers and some embellishments. When the gel medium was dry I sprayed the microspheres with pearl gold, pearl pink, and chalk dark brown mist, then added touches of gold glitter.
I finished off my page by adding a few mica flakes.

That's all from me today. I hope you all have a great weekend and that you found something in this post to inspire you!!

CHRISTMAS MINI ALBUM....

Hello :-).... I hope you are all having a great week!!! Today I would like to share with you all a Christmas mini album I made. As you all know, I made my first ever mini-album on here not that long ago, and I thought it was about time to make another. I am really starting to love these, and I don't think it will be long before I have a pile of these to rival my layouts!!
I originally planned to do a December Daily, but with Christmas so close, my Mom being unwell and my own doctors appointments and tests I just didn't have the time.
I instead settled for this mini album which I made from scratch.

'Christmas'

My album is 6x6. I have used white card as the base for each page, then covered both sides in patterned paper for added strength, and interest!!

Some close-ups of the cover:

I have added this gorgeous frame from Dusty Attic to my cover, which I have altered a little by cutting the french window grid out from the middle. I have then painted it with my favorite white and silver glitter paint from 13 Arts

Here you can see some of theses fantastic little Christmas bit and pieces by Heidi Swapp..... Just loving these!!! And of course I had to add some beautiful Prima flowers!!

The title is also from Heidi Swapp.... I really love her acetate words like this, I could use them on everything!!

I will of course be adding all my photos to my album after Christmas!!

Here is a look at the inside:

I originally wanted to make each individual page different, but sadly it is a look I just can't pull off very well, so I settled for double pages!!

I got the cute little felt doily free with a magazine ages ago, but couldn't think how to use them until now..... Love how it looks with the gold thread and Bo Bunny button!!

All the papers on these first two pages are from Kaisercraft.

For the next 2 pages I have used a combination of Kaisercraft and Bo-Bunny.

A little saying I cut out, layered on some twines and thread, and finished off with the cute little Dusty Attic Reindeer, silver start and some sequins.

On this side I have added a couple of Dusty Attic chipboard Stars and a vellum star from Heidi Swapp.

All the mediums, mists, paints and inks I have used are from 13 Arts.

A little Christmas banner, some cheesecloth, and my beloved metallic thread!!

Pretty much the same again on this side, though this time I have added a few word stickers from Authentique.

I went a little overboard on these to pages!!!! By the time I got up to here I was in such a creative mode, that I nearly forgot to leave space for some photos and/or journaling!!

Lots of sparkle on this page.... Mists, glitter, sequins.

I have cut some doilies from a sheet of Kaisercraft paper and layered them with some straws, cheesecloth, thread, and some Heidi Swapp Christmas Die-cuts.

My final 2 pages..... I would have liked to add more, but I love dimension and really struggle to make anything even remotely flat, and if i had tried to add more pages my album wouldn't have closed!!! I'm thinking of making a second one if I have the time!!

A couple more little Christmas well-wishes cut from a sheet of Kaisercraft paper..... Only a small one on the second last page, leaving plenty of room for a photo or journaling, while the final page (below) has a larger sentiment.

I have embellished the final two pages with some washi tape, twine, thread, stars and sequins, and also a few beautifully little snowflakes from Dusty Attic which I have covered in fine silver glitter.

I hope you have enjoyed my little Christmas album!!! I just adore this time of the year, and I cannot wait until Christmas morning to see Jet with all his presents!!

I hope you found something in this post to inspire you, and I hope you all enjoy the rest of the week!!

Hugs!!

DREAM LAYOUT AND TUTORIAL

Hi!!!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!! Today I would like to share with you my most recent creation for 13 Arts. I created have used the gorgeous new Color Basics line, along with many beautiful mediums, mists and paints!!! I just love 13 Arts products, the papers are very strong and will take lots of media, and you can create fantastic effects withe their mists, paints, ect. I have put together a tutorial for you today, so please read through!!!

'Dream'

Some close-ups:

And here is tutorial for you!!!

Steps 1 and 2: Scrape 13 Arts Gesso randomly over a sheet of paper from the color basics collection using a palette knife. Then using the square stencil from the color basics collection spray Ayeeda Mist: Pearl Turquoise Light through the stencil, in or near gessoed area, moving it around the page, and turning over occasionally to stamp excess mist onto background.

Steps 3 and 4: When the mist is dry, scrape some more gesso over the top. This will stop the sprayed and stamped color mixing when we spray it later. Don't worry if some of the color lifts into the gesso creating a slightly blue paste. This adds to the effect later!!! Then once again using your square stencil spread modelling paste around your background. You can let it dry naturally or with a heat gun.
I choose to let mine dry naturally, which meant these next couple of steps were completed and photographed at night, so I do apologize for the poor photos.

Step 5: This is my favorite part!! Spray a couple of colors of mist. I have used Pastel Turquoise, and Pastel Cobalt, along with a tough more of the Pearl Turquoise light. You don't need to cover your area.... Just a few sprays, then we blend and move the colors around with a brush. Occasionally flick the excess off your brush over the page to create some splats.
When your background is around half way dry, use a very wet brush to splatter lots of water all over your background.... This creates those awesome watercolor effects!!

Steps 6 and 7: When everything was dry I decided to highlight the inside of a few squares around the page with a white gel pen. I also used the Pearl Navy Blue Mist and a small paintbrush to create some darker shadows around some of the squares.

Steps 8 and 9: I finished my background by doodling in some black pen randomly around the outside of some squares, and stamping some butterflies on my background.

Steps 10 and 11: Next I start to build my composition. Each layer of paper is seperated by a row of foam tape for dimension, and I have distressed all the edges. Before I put my photo down I flicked some more mists on my papers, in particular on each side. I also added there, some microspheres in 2 sizes, glued down with gel Medium, and sprayed when dry. As you can see in the second photo the papers now blend into the background.
I add a few different types of twine, threads and my photo, then begin to add my embellishments.

Steps 12 and 13: I continue to build up my embellishments, layering flowers, and adding some chipboard from the color basics collection. The heart frame at the bottom has also been covered with microspheres and sprayed, while the heart and dream word have been painted white with gesso and outlined in gold gel pen.
I finished off my page by lightly dry brushing all my embellishments with gesso, and then painting with Ayeeda Paint in gold glitter, adding some beautiful sparkle. I then sprayed everything with Pearl Mist in Silver for extra shimmer.

I hope you found something in this post to inspire you!
Wishing you all a wonderful upcoming weekend!!

LUCKY!!!

Hi everyone!!! Today I have a couple of things to share with you using amazing 13 Arts products. First up is a layout I created using this months sketch from Once Upon A Sketch. I also created a card.

Remember 13 Arts are available in Australia from Sassy Scrapper, in the US from The Flying Unicorn, and from our online store http://13arts.pl/

Here is the sketch that inspired my layout:

http://13arts.pl/

The journaling theme was : 'Inspiration/I am inspired by, ect.'

I have written my journaling on the back of my layout and I thought I would quickly share it with you before I get started.

'Whenever I look at you with that beautiful big smile and your golden curls, I cannot help but smile. You are my entire world, and my biggest inspiration. You make me want to always strive to be a better person and Mom, to be happier. When I have such adorable photo's of you, or you say or do something funny, it inspires me to create.... My second love. You will always be my first! Being a Mom is all I ever hoped it would be and so much more. I always thought it would be me who inspired and encouraged you, but I never realized you would do the same for me, and I am so grateful and proud of you that you have. You are a handsome, smart, sweet little boy, and every minute that goes by I love you more!

'Lucky Rd'

I have painted my background using a combination of mists and inks that I have mixed together on my palette to create different colors. Originally I had not planned on adding the peach and coral touches, but I really wanted to scrap these photos and as I don't really like scrapping with red, I thought that the peach was the perfect color to tie in the photo.

Lots of close-ups:

I have brushed all my flowers with Ayeeda Gesso, and Ayeeda Paint in Gold Glitter. I love the sparkle and shabby feel this gives my work. I have also tucked beneath my papers a piece of 13 Arts chipboard, which I have placed a butterfly on.

I have used the same mix of mist and inks from my background to paint the tips of the leaves on the vine. I have also added flicks of it to blend it all together.

When I had finished adding all my elements, everything was flicked with peach and blue mists, then sprayed with Pearl Silver Mist  for extra shine. I love this mist as it it gives a transparent sheen of shimmer to everything!!

The rest of the leaves on my vine were painted blue to match the flowers and background colors where they were positioned.

I used Sky Blue mist mixed with a touch of White Chalk Mist to paint all the stamped butterflies on the background.

I have used Pearl Gold Paint mixed with Acrylic Liquid Medium and a touch of White Chalk Mist, to create a water paint which I have used to paint all the resin butterfly's.

Some little bits and pieces that I have layered beneath the vine leaves.
You can also see the awesome crackled texture in 13 Arts Modelling paste here. I love how it does that!!

Next up I have a gorgeous mixed-media card that I created once again using lots of 13 Arts products!!

I have actually made this card for Aida Domisiewicz owner of 13 Arts as a Thank You for the opportunity she has given me to be on this team. I have always loved art in all forms, scrapbooking and mixed-media, but since joining this team, and using such amazing products my confidence in what I create has soared.

 'You Gave Me Wings...'

I have used the stencil 'Love' from the Fly Away collection, with modelling paste on my background. When that was dry I proceeded to paint it with with a combination of ink and mist, adding lots of big splatters and beautiful stains.
I have also used a sticker from the Fly Away collection for my title.

I have layered some calico, waxed cord, and a couple of strips of washi tape in the top left corner of my page, on top of which I built up my flower cluster. I glued everything down using gel medium for added strength.

I have also added this resin piece which is available from the 13 Arts store.
I have brushed all my flowers with gesso, covering most of them, though leaving touches of their color to show through, then painted with the same mists and inks I used on the background.

I have also used a mixture of pearl gold paint, liquid medium, and white chalk mist to brush onto parts of my flowers and background for shimmer.
I finished off by adding some knotted pieces of gold thread and a few mica flakes.

That is all from me today. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
