'SO MUCH LOVE' - MY FIRST EVER VIDEO TUTORIAL

Hi lovely blog readers!!! I hope you are all well!!!
I must say I am very excited to be sharing with you today as this post contains my very first YouTube video tutorial, which you will find towards the end of this post!!! I hope you will let me know what you think of it in the comments.

Today's creation is something girly. I seem to be using lots of pink and making girly things lately... I also seem to have drifted away from masking with modelling paste as you will see in this layout and also in some upcoming posts.

'So Much Love'

I do apologize if you are wondering where my title is!!! It is very tiny located on the little vellum flag attached to the top the heart skewer (Just below the heart). I am not really one for titles..... never have been, I can never think up good ones so I look for chipboards, or sayings on embellishments such as this that I can use.

Some details:

This little pink frame was painted the same way as the one at the top and bottom of the page, gesso, mist, and grit.

I absolutely love 13 Arts new fillers, they are so easy to use and add that extra something special to any creation!!

I have added some orange twigs into my clusters around the layout. These are one of my favorite new things to use!! They are available in a variety of colors in the 13 @rts store.

Lots of dimension!!!!

I hope you like what I have created and that you have found something to inspire you in both this post, and the video below!!

Thank you for visiting!!!

ATC'S TUTORIAL - 13 ARTS

Hi everyone!!!! I hope you are all well?
Today I am sharing with you something a little different for me ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). I have made ATCs before, however only once and they were much larger than normal ATC's are meant to be. This time I have made 4 in the traditional size (2 +1/2 inches x 3 +1/2 inches), using lots of stunning 13 Arts products.

I was actually very surprised when I noticed how perfectly they seem to fit next to each other with everything lining up. This was completely unintentional, especially because they were not placed next to each other as I worked, and were in a different position and facing a different direction with almost every step, which you will likely notice when you read through the tutorial I have put together for you.

Here are the first two I made, both in purple:

Here are the second two in blue:

Here is the tutorial:

Step 1: Cut 4 pieces of white cardstock to size, then cut 13 Arts papers to fit. I have used the new Mental Vacation collection. However don't attach your paper to the cardstock backing. Put those away for now as that will be our very final step.

Use a palette knife to spread gesso on the background.

As you can tell I ended up covering most of the pattern, but its good to use anyway because it hold wet media quite well, and you never know what part of the paper might show through when you are done!!

Step 2: I have mixed a small amount of Turquoise and Violet paint with lots of water and a little pearl Silver Mist on my craft mat, then using a brush I have painted it onto my patterned paper. I have applied the watery mixture quite thickly to create little puddles of color.

Step 3: I have let it sit for around a minute or so, maybe a little less, and let it begin to dry a little. Then I sprayed it with a water bottle, washing some of the paint away, and leaving interesting patterns where my puddles had dried at the edges.
I have used used the left over mixture to add some splats of color.

Steps 4 and 5: Tear up some pieces of cheesecloth and attach them to your ATC's using a small amount of gel medium. Then mix some of the new Metallic Paints in Violet and Turquoise with MAGIC! Powder to create your own custom Modelling Paste. Spread them onto your cards using the Tattered Grid Stencil from the Mental Vacation Collection.

Steps 6 and 7: Add some embellishments to create a point of interest on each ATC.
I have used some flowers, paper, fabric, and resin!
Give your embellishments a thin but even coat of gesso and dry.

Step 8: I decided that my blue ATC's needed something a little extra so I have added a couple of Acrylic snowflakes to them. Now it is time to add some color!!! I have sprayed Pearl Turquoise Light, and Pastel Cobalt Blue Mists on the Blue cards, and Chalk Lilac onto the Purple along with some Vivid Violet Paint.

Step 9: Add some microspheres to your cards. On the flowers themselves and beneath them along the edges.

Steps 10 and 11: Add a little more color with the blue's and purple's to the flowers and microspheres, then use black ink and a small paintbrush to create some shadowy effect on and under the flowers.
Add some flicks of White SPLASH! Ink.

Steps 12 and 13: To the Blue ATC's I have added some Light Blue Grit, whilst adding Purple Mica Flakes to the Purple ATC's. I have used my finger to rub gesso around the edges of the cards in certain spots to lighten them up a little.
Knot some gold thread and attach it to your cards.

To finish up, cover the back of each ATC with double sided tape. It wont use much as the cards are quite small, then firmly smooth them onto the white cardstock backings that you cut earlier. This should help smooth out and warping, and also help them to sit relatively flat.

That's all from me today! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial, and I wish you all a wonderful upcoming weekend full of creative fun!!

MAY SHARES FOR DUSTY ATTIC

Hi everyone!!! It's Jacqueline here back again with a couple of things to share with you today!!! First up I would like to share with you the layout I created based on the moodboard here at Dusty Attic for May.

May's Moodboard:

And here is what I came up with!!!

'Be Happy, Dream Big'

I was very inspired by the colors in this moodboard..... How could I not be? They are my favorites!!!

Some close-up:

As I am sure many of you know by now, I adore chipboard frames!!! I could use them on everything!!! When creating this layout I couldn't quite find a frame the right size to be placed here so I have taken one of the smaller plates in the Nameplates #2 set and used a metal ruler and Stanley knife to carefully cut the center out creating this gorgeous little frame. I have painted it with the new 13 Arts Metallic Turquoise paint, then gone over the top with Distress Stickles in Lagoon.

I have done the same thing with the ATC Frame #2, cut out the middle, then paint with Metallic Turquoise and Lagoon Blue Stickles.

Both of my 'new' frames have been layered amongst the papers to the left of my photograph.

The Decorative Scroll #1 comes with 4 separate pieces. A larger scroll, and a smaller scroll, each containing 2 pieces, a much thicker, bulkier, bottom piece, and a much more delicate piece that layers on top.
I have taken all 4 pieces and painted them thoroughly white with gesso, including all the edges..... This took a while as you can probably imagine as they are quite fiddly pieces, and also one is quite large. When the gesso was completely dry I have taken the more delicate top layer of each scroll and brushed a generous amount of 13 Arts Gold Glitter Paint onto it. I have then secured it to its larger bottom half. The Gold on the top layer makes it easier to distinguish between the two whilst adding to the dimension.

I have placed the larger scroll on my paper layers, adding some twine, calico, and my photo on top. The smaller one I have place on the upper left corner of my photo.

I have taken 2 Word Disks #1 and painted them using Black Water-based Ink. This is my favorite way for making chipboard black. It takes just a few drops give you an even, matte finish

I have cut a few hearts from the Heart Attack Panel Small #1 and covered them in chunky Gold Glitter. I have also cut two of the lace drops off the Lace Border #1, painting them white and dipping the tips in gold glitter. I have tucked them under the blue flower sitting in the smaller decorative scroll (on the left of my photo) like leaves.

Next up have a gorgeous fun 'Green' layout with another adorable photo of my boy!!

'Cheeky'

So this background i actually made about a year and a half ago..... Using my beloved watercolor paints, but then it got lost amongst all my paper. I found it a few weeks ago when i was organizing my stuff. I decided to add some stencilling on top with a white Gel Pen and some SPLASH! ink in white.

Very happy I decided to use it!!!

Details:

I have painted a Peacock Feather completely white with gesso, then used 2 colors of mist, Pastel Lime and Chalk Celadon to color it. I have brushed the tips of the 'feathers' with Gold Glitter paint.

I have painted the large butterfly above and the small one below with Acrylic paints also from 13 Arts.

I have used a small brush to very carefully paint a line around the edges at the top of the Peacock Feather in Gold Glitter.

The 'Love You' arrow has been given the same treatment as the Peacock Feather.
I have cut a few more hearts from the Heart Attack Panel Small #1 and covered them in Gold Glitter. I have then used foam tape to mount one onto the arrow above the heart 'o' of 'you'. The rest I have scattered around the page.

I have added an ATC Frame #4 amongst my paper layers. It has been given the same treatment as the frames in my first layout.

My title 'Cheeky' has simply been colored black using Black Water-based Ink.

That's all from me today!!! I hope you have enjoyed!!!
