FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL

Hello!!

I hope you have all had a good week? I can't believe that it is the end of July already!!! How quickly has the year gone by?

I'm just stopping by today to share with you another card and step-by-step tutorial I created for 13 Arts.

'For Someone Special'

Some close-ups:

 Lot's of dimension!!

And here is the tutorial:

Step 1 and 2: Cut a piece of paper from the mental vacation Collection to fit the front of your card. Distress the edges and attach with double-sided tape, then use a palette knife to spread gesso over the front of your card.

Steps 3 and 4: Mix some Modelling Paste with Magic! Powder to create a nice thick paste that will crack when applied, then use your palette knife to spread the paste through your stencil/stencils. When the paste is dry add some random stamping with archival ink.

Steps 4 and 5: Now it is time to add color. I have mixed Pearl Turquoise light with a tiny bit of Vivid Violet paint to get this gorgeous Deep Blue. I have painted it onto my background in a roucgh diamond shape adding some of the Pearl Turquoise light on its own as well. Give everything a few sprays of water and let the colors run.

Steps 6 and 7: Add some Washi Tape and Cut your papers. Distress the edges and attach with foam tape and glue for added strength.

Steps 8 and 9: Tear a piece of Calico and add it to your layers then glue some Hemp Twine in a circle on top. Next I have covered a chipboard frame with Washi Tape and placed it on top before adding a flower and another circle of Jute Twine in Apricot. I have then added a few splashes of Pastel Salmon Mist to the background.

Steps 10 and 11: Add some more flowers brushed with Gesso, a resin clock, and metal leaf painted White. I have also decided to lighten up the edges of the card a little by rubbing some Gesso into it with my finger. I added some more paint flicks of the deep blue I mixed up for my background. Add some Light Grey Grit randomly to your card using Gel medium to hold it in place.

Step 12: Finish off by writing your sentiment on white card with a black pen, cutting it out and attaching firmly to your card. Then use your black pen to draw an outline on the Washi Tape chipboard frame and to draw a zigzag stitch around the edge of the card.

I hope you like my card and that you enjoyed my tutorial!!!

JULY MOODBOARD AT DUSTY ATTIC

Hey Dusty Attic Fans!!

I'm stopping by today to share with you a layout I created based on this months moodboard challenge at Dusty Attic. I have used lots of fab Dusty Attic Chippies, Paints and Varnish.

I really adore this photo of my Son..... He is so happy all the time and seeing his smile always brightens up my day. I wanted to create something fun and cheerful to match his personality.

Here is the moodboard:

I have taken the blue's, dark green, and salmon color from the moodboard to create my layout.

'Hello, Hello'

I have covered the background in squares cut from different patterned papers, before adding gesso, Dusty Attic Paints and a little mist.

Some Details:

I have drawn the word Hello onto a piece of Webster's page's paper then used my Stanley knife to cut it out by hand. I have taken the chipboard piece that said 'Hello Today' from the word set Mini Captions #2 and cut the 'today' off the bottom. I have painted it white with gesso and given a coat of Dusty Attic's Clear Gloss Varnish, before placing it above my hand-cut 'Hello'

I have covered an arrow from Arrows #1 with patterned paper, then glued it on top of another paper arrow, forming the tip of my Indian Arrow.

The Peacock Feather has been painted with gesso then mist to match the background.

I have used one of the new Mini Frames at the top of my arrow which I have covered with this really pretty Mint Liquid Pearls.

I have covered some chevrons from the Chevron Panel Small with patterened paper then attached them to the top of my page using foam tape.

I have covered a Polaroid frame with patterned paper as well tucking it between my flower layers to the left of the photo.

I have colored the little arrow here from Arrows #2 with a black marker.

I have cut one of the larger banners from Banners #1 and covered it in the same Websters pages paper I have cut my title in. The 'Be Happy' word disk was also colored with a black marker.

Thankyou for stopping by!
Until next time!

PRIMA BAP - BELIEVE

Hi again!!

Just stopping by today to share with you my second creation for Prima's challenges this month this time a fun girly layout based on July's BAP. You can check out the challenge's, gorgeous DT work, and other entries on the blog here.

Here is this month's awesome sketch:

July 2015 BAP Jennifer

And here is my take on it:

'Believe'

Instead of using 3 photo's I have chosen to use a single photo. I have instead used 3 chipboard frames to make up this feature. The largest on on top of the photo has been covered with paper from the garden fable Collection. The other 2, a small one to the left on top of the bigger frame and another on the right tucked just beneath the photo, have both been painted with Art Extravagance White Crackle Texture Paste. I have then added color using a mix of Purple and Lipstick Mica Powders.

Some details:

All the paper's used on this layout are from the garden fable collection.

The background was created by spreading some Art Basics Heavy White Gesso, then when it was dry painting it with a combination of Purple and Lipstick Mica Powders along with a tiny touch of Cotton Candy Color Bloom. When the color was dry I have scraped more Gesso on top before stamping some butterflies which I have painted with the same colors used in the background. I then added a little texture stamping with a Stamp from the Garden fable Collection.

Beneath my flowers, in random areas, I have used Soft Matte Gel to glue down Art Ingredients Glass Beads in Rust. They weren't really the right color to suit my layout so I have painted the beads with a very thick mix of Lipstick Mica Powder, then used a tiny bit more Gel Medium to sprinkle on some Microbeads in Blush.

For my title I have used one of Invild Bolme's Large Typo Bulbs. I love these, so much that I have had a single packet sitting on my desk for over a year and I have only just been able to bring myself to use one!!!
I have once again added color with a mix Mica Powders.

I have used a few resin pieces on here...... This gorgeous owl and three butterflies!!

All of the flower tips were brushed with Heavy White Gesso.
A couple of my flowers weren't really the right color so I have completely painted them with the same Mica Powders I used on the background.  I have then used a small paintbrush to splatter the 2 colors of Mica powders randomly on all my other flowers, tying everything together.

As is typical for my I have added a lot of layers, dimension and different elements to achieve the look I wanted.

I hope you enjoy my creation and have found something in this post to inspire you!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hugs!!

PRIMA PPP - LOVE

Hi everyone!! I hope you are all well!

It has been a long time since I had the time to create just because I wanted to and not because I had deadlines that I needed to meet, it has been even longer since I found the time to join in a challenge!! So was pretty excited this month when I found time to sit down and create something for this months PPP challenge over at Prima.

You can check out this month's challenges along with the amazing DT work and other entries here on the Prima blog.

Here is the stunning moodboard Prima have put together this month.

PPPJULY2015

I have taken the Cobalt, Creamy White, and Soft Turquoise from the palette adding the tiniest touch of Yellow in my background to soften it up and add a little warmth.

Here is my take on this months PPP:

'Love'

All the papers I have used are from the Garden Fable collection. For the background I have spread Prima Heavy White Gesso with a palette knife in thin coats, gradually lightening up the paper and covering some of the patterns. I have then spread Art Extravagance Texture Paste in White Crackle over the background in the rough area I wanted my photo and embellishments to go.When it was dry I added color with a combination of Mica Powders, and Color Bloom Sprays. I finished my background by adding some Light Modelling Paste through my Finnabair Halftone Stencil.

Some details:

For my title I have used this little silver plate by Ingvid Bolme. I have layered it on top of a rein heart and my flowers.

I have used Soft Matte Gel to add a sprinkling of Silver Microbeads, Turquoise Glass Beads and Microbeads in Splash to the lighter Blue and White colored flowers on my layout.

I have brushed the tips of all my flowers with heavy White gesso before spraying and splattering colors to match the background.

 Lots of texture!!!

I have layered together Cobalt Glass Beads, Glass Glitter in Pitch black and Microbeads in Splash to create a darker shadowy border around my clusters and to tie in with the Cobalt on the background.

As always I have created lots of layers and dimension on my layout.

I'm so happy with the way this turned out as I just love this photo of Jet when he was a baby. I look at it sometimes and wonder if really was that small or if it was just a dream... He has grown so fast, and continues to grow every single day.

That is all I have to share with you today but I will be back in a day or two with my BAP entry as well!! Yep!! I found time for a second challenge this month too.

Have a great week everyone!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

MORE ON COLOR THEORY - 13 ARTS

Hi everyone!!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are having a great start to the week!!! In my last post for 13 Arts I shared with you a little on Analogous Color Schemes, and explained how a color wheel works.

This week I want to share with you a little about Complementary Colors.
Complementary Colors are when we use 2 colors located directly opposite one another on the color wheel.Complementary colors can create visually exciting effects, and is fantastic if you want something to really pop out, but you need to be careful not to overdo it. It works best when you use one color to dominate and the second to accent.

This week I have made a card with a Step-by-Step Tutorial based on the complementary colors shown here in this color wheel, Yellow and Violet.

 'Happy Birthday Nanny'

It is coming up on my grandmother's 76th birthday in a couple of weeks so I made this card for her. I have chosen Yellow to be my main Color, adding a Purple feature in the center of the card with a few hints of purple in the background to blend it together..

Some Details:

 Step-By-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: I have cut a piece of yellow paper from the Color Basic Collection to fit the front of my card, then used my palette knife to spread gesso onto the paper. When the Gesso was dry I have sprayed the paper with Pastel Yellow and Pastel Lime Mists, tilting it a little both up and down to get a few drips running both ways down the paper. Dry it with a heat gun.

Step 2: I have used Black Archival Ink to stamp some leaves onto my card, then I have placed my Heart Stencil from the Starlight Collection upside down on my paper, spreading modelling paste through before drying with a heat gun until it puffs up.

Step 3: I have mixed some Vivid violet Paint with water on my craft mat then painted it in the center of my background adding more water as I go, once again tilting for drips, and this time flicking the extra paint off my brush. I have then torn a thin strip of calico and pulled threads loose around the edges, gluing it to my background length ways.

Step 4: I have attached a loose circle of white cord to the middle of my background then added some yellow flowers.

Step 5: Using foam tape I have attached a small piece of purple paper from the Mental Vacation Collection above my yellow flowers and twine circle. I have then painted a chipboard frame white with Gesso, layering it on top of the smaller piece of paper, before finishing with a purple flower.

Step 6: Brush the tips of all the flowers with Gesso then randomly spray the flowers, papers, and frame with some more of the Pastel Yellow and Pastel Lime Mists.

Step 7: Use Gel Medium to add some Natural Purple Mica Flakes and Yellow Sand Colored Grit. Write your sentiment on a piece of white card using a Gold Gel pen and secure it just above the large flower in the middle. Finish off by securing your paper to the front of your card, letting the corners roll up a little.

That's all from me today. I hope you have enjoyed my post!!

TODAY'S FAVOURITE - DUSTY ATTIC

Hi everyone!! How are you all? I am back again today sharing with you my free project for July. This time I have decided to create a layout using my favorite photo, chippies, and colors!!!

'Today's Favourite'

I have been wanting to create a pie chart on a layout for quite a while, so I pulled out some scrap paper, cut them, stenciled them and painted the, then attached them to a black circle with foam tape to help them stand out a little from the background.

Some close-ups:

For my title I have taken this awesome little phrase 'Today's Favourite' from the Mini Captions #2 and painted it black then layered it on my pie chart to the left of the page.

I have taken the bricks from the Brick Wall Panel and glued them on my background before painting them thoroughly with gesso and adding color with Twinkling H2o's. I then spread a mix of 13 Arts Microspheres and Gel Medium into all the cracks. This is the same technique I used on my 'XOXO' canvas early last month.

One of my favorite chippies at the moment is the Nameplates #2. I use a metal ruler and my Stanley knife to cut the centers out to create little frames. I have done that with one of the longer nameplates here, cutting it in half lengthwise and placing one half at the top of my page, the other at the bottom.
I have also punched out 2 leaves from the new release chipboard, Leaves #2. I have painted it white with gesso, then added a touch of Prima Mica powder.

Lot's flowers as always!! Some tucked away beneath my layers.

And of course lots of dimension!!!

For my journaling I added the vellum and Gold Foil 'I Treasure You' to my photo, and the 'Just Because' disk from the Word Disk #1 set.

That's all from me today!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!
