DREAM LAYOUT AND TUTORIAL

Hi!!!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!! Today I would like to share with you my most recent creation for 13 Arts. I created have used the gorgeous new Color Basics line, along with many beautiful mediums, mists and paints!!! I just love 13 Arts products, the papers are very strong and will take lots of media, and you can create fantastic effects withe their mists, paints, ect. I have put together a tutorial for you today, so please read through!!!

'Dream'

Some close-ups:

And here is tutorial for you!!!

Steps 1 and 2: Scrape 13 Arts Gesso randomly over a sheet of paper from the color basics collection using a palette knife. Then using the square stencil from the color basics collection spray Ayeeda Mist: Pearl Turquoise Light through the stencil, in or near gessoed area, moving it around the page, and turning over occasionally to stamp excess mist onto background.

Steps 3 and 4: When the mist is dry, scrape some more gesso over the top. This will stop the sprayed and stamped color mixing when we spray it later. Don't worry if some of the color lifts into the gesso creating a slightly blue paste. This adds to the effect later!!! Then once again using your square stencil spread modelling paste around your background. You can let it dry naturally or with a heat gun.
I choose to let mine dry naturally, which meant these next couple of steps were completed and photographed at night, so I do apologize for the poor photos.

Step 5: This is my favorite part!! Spray a couple of colors of mist. I have used Pastel Turquoise, and Pastel Cobalt, along with a tough more of the Pearl Turquoise light. You don't need to cover your area.... Just a few sprays, then we blend and move the colors around with a brush. Occasionally flick the excess off your brush over the page to create some splats.
When your background is around half way dry, use a very wet brush to splatter lots of water all over your background.... This creates those awesome watercolor effects!!

Steps 6 and 7: When everything was dry I decided to highlight the inside of a few squares around the page with a white gel pen. I also used the Pearl Navy Blue Mist and a small paintbrush to create some darker shadows around some of the squares.

Steps 8 and 9: I finished my background by doodling in some black pen randomly around the outside of some squares, and stamping some butterflies on my background.

Steps 10 and 11: Next I start to build my composition. Each layer of paper is seperated by a row of foam tape for dimension, and I have distressed all the edges. Before I put my photo down I flicked some more mists on my papers, in particular on each side. I also added there, some microspheres in 2 sizes, glued down with gel Medium, and sprayed when dry. As you can see in the second photo the papers now blend into the background.
I add a few different types of twine, threads and my photo, then begin to add my embellishments.

Steps 12 and 13: I continue to build up my embellishments, layering flowers, and adding some chipboard from the color basics collection. The heart frame at the bottom has also been covered with microspheres and sprayed, while the heart and dream word have been painted white with gesso and outlined in gold gel pen.
I finished off my page by lightly dry brushing all my embellishments with gesso, and then painting with Ayeeda Paint in gold glitter, adding some beautiful sparkle. I then sprayed everything with Pearl Mist in Silver for extra shimmer.

I hope you found something in this post to inspire you!
Wishing you all a wonderful upcoming weekend!!

LUCKY!!!

Hi everyone!!! Today I have a couple of things to share with you using amazing 13 Arts products. First up is a layout I created using this months sketch from Once Upon A Sketch. I also created a card.

Remember 13 Arts are available in Australia from Sassy Scrapper, in the US from The Flying Unicorn, and from our online store http://13arts.pl/

Here is the sketch that inspired my layout:

http://13arts.pl/

The journaling theme was : 'Inspiration/I am inspired by, ect.'

I have written my journaling on the back of my layout and I thought I would quickly share it with you before I get started.

'Whenever I look at you with that beautiful big smile and your golden curls, I cannot help but smile. You are my entire world, and my biggest inspiration. You make me want to always strive to be a better person and Mom, to be happier. When I have such adorable photo's of you, or you say or do something funny, it inspires me to create.... My second love. You will always be my first! Being a Mom is all I ever hoped it would be and so much more. I always thought it would be me who inspired and encouraged you, but I never realized you would do the same for me, and I am so grateful and proud of you that you have. You are a handsome, smart, sweet little boy, and every minute that goes by I love you more!

'Lucky Rd'

I have painted my background using a combination of mists and inks that I have mixed together on my palette to create different colors. Originally I had not planned on adding the peach and coral touches, but I really wanted to scrap these photos and as I don't really like scrapping with red, I thought that the peach was the perfect color to tie in the photo.

Lots of close-ups:

I have brushed all my flowers with Ayeeda Gesso, and Ayeeda Paint in Gold Glitter. I love the sparkle and shabby feel this gives my work. I have also tucked beneath my papers a piece of 13 Arts chipboard, which I have placed a butterfly on.

I have used the same mix of mist and inks from my background to paint the tips of the leaves on the vine. I have also added flicks of it to blend it all together.

When I had finished adding all my elements, everything was flicked with peach and blue mists, then sprayed with Pearl Silver Mist  for extra shine. I love this mist as it it gives a transparent sheen of shimmer to everything!!

The rest of the leaves on my vine were painted blue to match the flowers and background colors where they were positioned.

I used Sky Blue mist mixed with a touch of White Chalk Mist to paint all the stamped butterflies on the background.

I have used Pearl Gold Paint mixed with Acrylic Liquid Medium and a touch of White Chalk Mist, to create a water paint which I have used to paint all the resin butterfly's.

Some little bits and pieces that I have layered beneath the vine leaves.
You can also see the awesome crackled texture in 13 Arts Modelling paste here. I love how it does that!!

Next up I have a gorgeous mixed-media card that I created once again using lots of 13 Arts products!!

I have actually made this card for Aida Domisiewicz owner of 13 Arts as a Thank You for the opportunity she has given me to be on this team. I have always loved art in all forms, scrapbooking and mixed-media, but since joining this team, and using such amazing products my confidence in what I create has soared.

 'You Gave Me Wings...'

I have used the stencil 'Love' from the Fly Away collection, with modelling paste on my background. When that was dry I proceeded to paint it with with a combination of ink and mist, adding lots of big splatters and beautiful stains.
I have also used a sticker from the Fly Away collection for my title.

I have layered some calico, waxed cord, and a couple of strips of washi tape in the top left corner of my page, on top of which I built up my flower cluster. I glued everything down using gel medium for added strength.

I have also added this resin piece which is available from the 13 Arts store.
I have brushed all my flowers with gesso, covering most of them, though leaving touches of their color to show through, then painted with the same mists and inks I used on the background.

I have also used a mixture of pearl gold paint, liquid medium, and white chalk mist to brush onto parts of my flowers and background for shimmer.
I finished off by adding some knotted pieces of gold thread and a few mica flakes.

That is all from me today. I hope you all have a wonderful week!

13 ARTS CHALLENGE.... 'THE BEST PART OF ME'

Hi everyone!!! Hope you are all having a wonderful week! I have had a fantastic week, creating, catching up on blog posts, spending time with my Son and my family. I was also very excited to see my Grandad on Wednesday as he is on a cruise that docked in Fremantle for the day. He lives in the eastern states, so I rarely get to see him. The last time was when my Mom turned 50 a year and a half ago, and before that I had not seen him since I was 9, in 15 years!!! It was wonderful to see him and his wife Helen again.

Today I would like to share with you all my recent creation for 13 Arts. It's time for a new challenge over on the blog, and this month Irina has created a beautiful moodboard, with the theme 'The best Part Of Me'.
Make sure you pop on over to the blog to see the rest of the Design Teams amazing take on this challenge!!

Here is this Month's challenge:

As soon as I saw this challenge I knew exactly what I was going to make. You may have realized by now that I don't really scrapbook myself very often, I'm just not comfortable with it. Besides the best part of me is and always will be my Son, so I have created a layout about him using the beautiful blues from the moodboard.

'You'

I had lots of fun experimenting with my background on this layout. Creating lots of beautiful texture different ways and building up layers of gesso, modelling paste and color.
Some details:

I have brushed the tips of all my  flowers with Ayeeda paint in White and Silver Glitter. I just love this paint.... It is one of my faves!!

Another chipboard butterfly from the 'Fly Away' collection. It has been painted with various 13 arts paints, and glitter paints!

I have also added some butterfly's that I cut from a sheet of paper in the 'Fly Away' collection. This collection is very versatile and can be used with just about any colors and styles of pages.

I have added a few pieces of Dusty Attic Chipboard. The swirls at the top and bottom of the layout have been painted with the White and Silver Glitter paint used on the flowers. I have also used it to paint one of the Polaroid frames below.

Here you can see all the different textures on the background. Much of it was created simply by manipulating the modeling paste with my palette knife. I love all the cracks in it. It is probably one of my favorite things about 13 Arts Modeling paste.
I finished off my layout with a good spray of Pearl Silver Mist to give everything a decent shimmer.

Hope you enjoyed my post, and I hope to see you playing along with us this month at 13 Arts!!!
Have a wonderful week!!!

SCRAPPING FOR A CAUSE

Hi everyone!!! Hope you are all having a fantastic week!!! I have so much catching up to do on my blog I keep wondering where I will find the time. Especially when I looked at the calender this morning and it hit me that the year is just about gone.... I can't believe its already November!!!

Some of you know from my facebook page that I participated in 12 hours of a 36 hour Mega Mega Scrap at Made With Memories on the weekend to help raise money for the Western Australian children's charity Telethon. I attended the crop from 9pm til 9am, well 5 am. I piked out at 4.30 and had to go home for a little sleep before Jet woke..... Not that I had much luck as he woke when I walked in the door. So while I may have only scrapped for 8 hours, I was still awake for well over 36 on the weekend, and I am still tired today!!!!

Here is what I created.... I apologize if the photo's aren't that great, but the lighting at the time they were taken was quite poor.

'Happiness'

I have used lots of gorgeous mediums, sprays, paints, and inks from 13 Arts, lots of beautiful Dusty Attic chipboard, and some beautiful Prima flowers.

Some details:

The Dusty Attic chipboard banners have simply been covered with patterned paper then layered.
The leaves, which were originally a quite big stem I have cut into smaller pieces, was painted white with gesso, and then randomly painted around the tips of the leaves with some green 13Arts paint.
I painted the key with gesso using my finger to get that gorgeous texture then highlighted it with Twinkling H20's in gold.

I have added some gold glitter to the Polaroid frame, and also to some chipboard buttons, both from Dusty Attic.

I really love these Flutterbys.... I think I mentioned it in my last post, or maybe the one before, but I could use them on everything. They are just so cute!!

Lots of yummy Prima flowers!!!!

I finished off my page by adding in some of the Dusty Attic chicken wire colored black and tucking in some rolled up circles of metallic thread, then spraying everything with 13 Arts Ayeeda pearl Mist in Silver. I love this spray... It gives the most gorgeous shimmer to everything!!!

Thankyou to Made With memories for such a wonderful evening of creating, though i don't think I will be doing scrap aerobics again anytime soon!!!! And of course to all the lovely women who attended.... It was wonderful to meet all of you!!!

Have a great week everyone!!

Hugs!!

SPECIAL CASE AT CSI!!!

Hi everyone!!! I hope you are all  having a great week?? This week we have a very special case-file over at CSI. CSI Member, Lydibel Porrata, contacted Debbi over a year ago to create a special Case File for her Puerto Rican TV show, Creativa. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond her control, this Case File was unable to air.
We have decided to reveal this special Collaboration Case File anyway. With this first November Case File, our new Detectives make their debut! You will also see some retired Detectives make an appearance since this Case File originated over a year ago.

I had lots of fun with this case-file, though I must confess that I had a hard time with the brown. I occasionally add touches of a very light brown, but I don't feel comfortable mixing a darker brown with brights. However I created something I really love, even if it isn't my best work!!

 Case-file CC-3:

For my evidence I have used:

Trees and leaves: Some of my flowers have leafy bases.
Paint: I have painted my chipboard banners with 13 Arts paint and Ranger stickles, plus my background also contains paint.
Dots: I have used a dot stencil on my background, along with a piece of yellow paper that has dots in a slightly different shade.
Mixed-media background: I have used a variety of 13 arts mediums, paints, mists, and inks on my background along with some gold and black stamping.
Twine/string/fibres: I have used waxed twine behind my photo, gold thread rolled into circles and placed around the page, and calico, with frayed edges, also beneath my photo.,
Mist/paint splatters: IO have added lots of splatters with mist, paints and inks on my background.

For my journaling I have listed 5 fun facts on the back of the layout. I couldn't find room on the front!!!! It says:

1: This was the first time you ever crawled.
2: You could stand up and pull yourself around on furniture before you could crawl.
3: From the day you were born you have always had at least one hand that was near your mouth at any given time of the day.
4: You had the cutest little rolls on your legs.... I wish you still had them, they were just too adorable.
5: You started standing at 6 months, crawling at 7 months, and you were walking unaided at 8 months.

'Shine'

Some details:

Some Prima flowers and  a flower stem from Green Tara.

I love this little metal frame from Prima..... I want to get some more!!

Dusty Attic chipboard banners and a Heidi Swapp wood arrow.

My title!!!

That's all from me today. A quick post I know but I have to get dinner out of the oven!!! I hope you are all having a great week!!

BLESSED

Hi again!!! I hope you are all having a wonderful start to the weekend? I just wanted to drop by and quickly share with you all my latest Design Team layout for CSI. We had a gorgeous girly color palette this week, along with some interesting prompts. Make sure you pop on over to CSI, you have until next Sunday to enter this weeks challenges and we would love to see your creations in our gallery!!!

Here is this week's case-file, 146:

For my Evidence I have used:
Polka Dots: I have used a circle stencil from The Crafter's Workshop to create a polka dot pattern on my background.
Metal: I have placed a metal pin from Tim Holtz at the top of my layout.
Fibers: I have used calico behind my photo, twines, and various threads on my layout.
Clips: I have used 2 silver glitter pegs, attached to the top right of my photo and paper.

I know that this week I didn't use as many evidence prompts as I normally do. My page just came together without much thought, and I couldn't make the others work for me.

For my journaling I used a Journal Jar Prompt. The one I chose was about being inspired by quotes. It said to read the following quotes and write whatever came into your mind when you read it. I was inspired by the following quote:
'Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.' - Jane Howard
Here is what it inspired me to write:
"I cousins I am close to, and all their beautiful children whom I think of as my own nieces and nephews. I am grateful everyday that they call me Auntie, and to have them in my life. I may only have one child, and one sibling, but I am blessed beyond measure to have such a large, close family."
My jounaling is on the back of my layout in a little pocket I made, along with a short letter to my niece, Delilah, my cousin Beth's daughter, who is in the photo.

'Blessed'

I have used lots of beautiful 13 Arts mediums, paints, mists and inks to create my layout. I absolutely love these products..... They add the perfect touch to any creation. Remember you can now purchase 13 Arts in Australia at Sassy Scrappers, in the US at The Flying Unicorn, or at our online store http://13arts.pl/

Some details:

Some beautiful new Prima flowers nestled amongst two Green Tara flower vines, and a couple of small roses.

I absolutely love these little chipboard 'Flutterbys' from Dusty Attic. I have painted them white with gesso, then added some 13 Arts Pearl Pink Mist and Pink water-based Ink, along with a touch of green twinkling H20's.

I loved the lime green in the color palette, but didn't want it to overwhelm my layout, so I just added small touches of it here and there.

My title is from Dusty Attic's Hashtag Saying's pack. I simply cut the hash off. I have painted it black, then layered it on top of my flowers.

I decided to add some silver highlights to my page by adding some glitter washi tape, metallic thread, and 13 Arts Paint in White and Silver glitter, which I have used to paint the circle frame round my photo and brush the tips of all my flowers in.
I finished my page by covering my photo and adding some flicks of Pink ink over my papers and flowers to tie everything in.

That's it from me today!!! I hope have inspired you to create something beautiful this weekend!!!! Enjoy!

Hugs!!
